In Loving Memory of Darrin Eugene Schreck
July 30, 1976 – May 8, 2025
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Darrin Eugene Schreck on May 8, 2025, at the age of 48, due to medical complications from septic shock caused by pancreatitis.
Darrin was born at Fort Riley, Kansas, on July 30, 1976. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1995 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Army for 16 years, completing three combat deployments before receiving an honorable medical discharge. The Army was not only his profession but a source of immense pride and identity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, grandparents, and uncle. He is survived by his devoted mother, Linda, and his brother Jimmy and sister-in-law Trisha. He leaves behind four cherished children: Angel, Anthony, Alexander, and Addison, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by two loving nieces, many cousins, and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever miss his steady presence.
A proud veteran, Darrin found purpose and companionship in his service dog, Sasha, and was looking forward to the journey ahead with Storm, who was soon to begin training. He also cared for his grandmother and remained by her side until her passing, just one example of the compassion and loyalty that defined his life.
Darrin fought many battles in life with strength and courage. His legacy is one of loyalty, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He will be remembered for the sacrifices he made, the values he upheld, and the deep bond he shared with those closest to him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12 at 2:00 p.m. at VFW Post 1000, located at 1002 E US Hwy 24, Independence, Missouri. All who knew and loved Darrin are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory.
In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to The Battle Within.
